The Kukui, the state tree of Hawaii, produces a candlenut and as the legend describes it the Kukui nut was used as a light source providing a “guiding light” to successfully and safely lead travelers to their destinations.
Past recipients include Dianna Harvill, Shelton Coleman, Mary Ann Tous, Russell Judah, Liz Money, Alita Bagley, Betty and Bobby Vanzant, Guy Blatnik, Tim O’Leary, Alma McLeroy and Sue Singer.
Garza received the award on the basis of his many contributions over the years to the Chamber and the community, especially his contributions this past year.
Victor Baldovinos, Environmental Health Services Director
This is the sixth year the SPI Chamber has presented the Ambassador’s Award. Past recipients include Bob Fudge, Jim Harvill, Bobby Vanzant Anne Weiss and Candace Gray.
This year Victor Baldovinos received the award because he demonstrates a high level of commitment to his work. He takes his job seriously and goes above the call of duty to assist businesses on the Island. With his help the Chamber is able to deliver important health and food safety training to our area restaurants. This results in high st andards of food service and a positive experience for patrons at island restaurants. He was instrumental in launching recycling services for our community for which the Chamber advocated for many years. While he has many additional work related accomplishments in his role as SPI Environmental Services Director, the Chamber is most grateful for his membership referrals and for sharing our message about how businesses benefit from Chamber membership.
